Observation of building works by GMVEU located the corner of a medieval chalk block wall and a pit containing early medieval pottery, daub and bone. (282)

Observation by GMVEU of the construction of a wet well by Guildford Borough Council and Thames Water Utilities located substantial quantities of worked timbers dated to the medieval period and thought to represent a wharf. Medieval and post-medieval leather, pottery and metal finds were recovered from the spoil. (282)

A small brick pit, discovered under the lawn of the house, was recorded by GMVEU and subsequently identified as an early Victorian type of icehouse used by gamekeepers. The present house stands within the grounds of Woodham Hall, demolished in 1937. (292)

Examination of the cellars by GMVEU found that they had largely been destroyed by the later construction of bank vaults. (292)

A watching brief by GMVEU recorded several pits containing 13th and 14th century pottery and a post-medieval pit containing 18th century Chinese porcelain. A possible lime kiln, backfilled with 18th century material, was also recorded. (292)

Following the discovery of pottery and a metal item by the owner of Church Cottage during the digging of foundation trenches for an extension, GMVEU produced a short report on the artefacts recovered from the spoil. These included various waste deposits, eg fragments of leather shoes, and over a hundred sherds of medieval and post-medieval pottery. As the finds seemed to be concentrated in certain areas of spoil they could have come from a feature or features - perhaps a rubbish tip.
