REDIVIVUS Textile Artists
March 24th – April 12th 2014
An exhibition at Godalming Museum
An exhibition by Redivivus, a group of three experienced textile artists will take place at Godalming Museum from 25 March to 12 April. The group have been exhibiting together since 2006 in many shows in the UK. In this colourful exhibition each artist uses her view and technique to translate her interests with diverse subjects such as cars, medieval history and the environment .
Janice Lawrence finds her inspiration from travels in South America and the Polar Regions. She uses hand and machine stitch over hand painted fabric to convey her ideas. Sometimes working in a traditional manner, other times experimentally, she uses hand and machine stitch over hand painted fabric to convey her ideas.
Moyra McNeill uses her techniques imaginatively and freely, with designs based on drawings, backed up with photographs. Her subjects have varied from cars to buildings to plants, and she teaches and writes books
Gillian Mobsby is inspired by designs from early history. The quirky figures of the medieval period and the scrolling foliage become complex wall hangings. These are created using a variety of techniques; paint, print and stitch. Some of the pieces involve layers with precise cutting over an elaborate pattern. She has work in private and public collections.
