Dr. Tim Young is a Teaching Associate at the School of History, Archaeology and Religion, Cardiff Unversity. His research interests include Archaeometallurgy and Geophysics.
Dr. Young has kindly agreed to talk to us about iron ores in Surrey and the South-East, and the evolution of iron smelting technology (exact title forthcoming). Iron working has taken place in Surrey since the Iron Age but there is still much to be learnt. For background information see https://www.surreyarchaeology.org.uk/sites/default/files/aspects17.pdf, a paper by Jeremy Hodgkinson in Aspects of Archaeology and History in Surrey (2004).
This talk will take place on Zoom and is open only to RSG members. If you would like to join RSG you can join for £5 (see RSG page) if you are already a member of SyAS.
