Please note that the date of this visit has been changed from 25th April to Saturday 23rd April 2022.
A visit is planned to Bignor Roman Villa. Bignor is a large Roman courtyard villa which has been excavated and put on public display. It is well known for its high quality mosaic floors and David Rudling has kindly offered to guide us round the villa. As co-author of the book Bignor Roman Villa he is very knowledgeable about the site and he has also offered to guide the group around Bignor Hill to see Stane Street, BA Barrows, a Saxon Moot Mound, and the Barkhale Neolithic causewayed enclosure.
Entrance to the villa is £7.50 or £6 for seniors. Free Entry to Bignor Villa for all ARA Members showing their membership card.
For those not opting for a pub lunch there is a picnic area and small café at the villa. The café is limited in terms of savoury foods (mainly cakes etc).
