A History of Ockham to 1900

By Gillian Lachelin and Robert Primrose (published May 2013)

This book gives an account of a small Surrey community and draws on a considerable body of primary sources. Ockham has consisted of a scatter of hamlets, spread over some 2000 acres, for hundreds of years. It emerged as a recognised political and social entity at an early period and has remained relatively unchanged despite a surprisingly colourful history owing to its involvement with a range of influential men and women, such as William of Ockham and Ada Lovelace. The book aims to engage with readers interested in local history as well as providing a useful reference source for students and researchers. It contains a wide range of illustrations (many coloured), maps and detailed appendices.

A4 90 pages.
